Nocturnal Pole-Man Wheel, with case
Nocturnal to calculate the time through the stars
With the Nocturnal Pole-Man Wheel, the calculation of night hours was made according to the Évora Regiment (Portuguese Nautical Guide, c.1516). Their mnemonic verses helped to remember the position of the stars that would, in turn, dictate the time at night.
This copy reflects the detail and aesthetics of this historic instrument in an elegant case.
