"Canoas" returning from fishing
The beautiful artworks of the Portuguese painter João Vaz (1859-1931) portray the different Portuguese coastal traditions, reflected in the variety of fishing vessels, in the typical costumes or the daily dealings of men and women of the sea.
This magnificent scarf is inspired by one of these artworks, "Canoas returning from fishing", oil on canvas, c. 1910, whose original belongs to the Maritime Museum's art collection.
