The nocturnal and tides abacus is a unique scientific instrument that allows you to observe the solar time during the night, through the Polar Star.
Replica of the 1570 Nocturlabe and Tide Abacus by Humphrey Cole, the first builder of English Scientific Instruments, the original of which can be seen in the British Museum in London. One side has a Nocturnal and on the other a Tide Abacus. The tide abacus is used to calculate the tide hours, essential for navigation, ports and fishing.
